Studying can be hard sometimes. You sit down with a book, but your mind keeps wandering. Or you study for hours but forget everything during the exam. Don’t worry — this happens to almost every student.
The good news? You can study better and remember more by changing how you study, not how much. In this guide, we’ll share 10 simple study tips that actually work. No fancy tools needed — just a little planning, some focus, and a better routine.
1. Make a Study Plan
Before you open your books, make a plan. List all the subjects or topics you need to study and break them into smaller tasks. Decide how many hours you’ll study each day and stick to it.
Tip: Don’t forget to add breaks in your schedule!
2. Choose a Quiet and Clean Space
Studying in a noisy or messy place can make it hard to focus. Find a quiet spot in your home or school library where you can sit comfortably and not get distracted.
Keep your table clean with just what you need: books, pens, notes, and water.
3. Study in Short Sessions
Don’t try to study for 3 or 4 hours at once. Your brain needs rest. Instead, try the Pomodoro method — study for 25 minutes and take a 5-minute break. After 4 sessions, take a longer break (15–30 minutes).
This method helps you stay focused without burning out.
4. Use Your Own Words
When you read a topic, try to explain it in your own words. You can do this out loud or write it down. If you can teach the topic to someone else, it means you really understand it.
This is called the Feynman Technique, and it’s one of the best ways to learn.
5. Avoid Multitasking
Don’t try to study while watching TV or checking your phone. Focus on one thing at a time. Turn off notifications or use apps like Forest or Focus To-Do to help you stay on track.
6. Take Notes by Hand
Writing helps you remember better than typing. Use a notebook and write down key points in your own style. Use different colors, highlighters, or diagrams if that helps you.
Making flashcards is also a great idea for quick revision.
7. Practice with Past Papers
One of the smartest ways to study is to solve past exam papers. This helps you understand the question pattern and manage your time during real exams.
Try to solve them without looking at answers first. Then, check and improve.
8. Study with a Group (Sometimes)
Studying with friends can help, but only if you stay on topic. You can quiz each other, explain tough parts, or revise together. Just make sure it doesn’t turn into a chat session!
9. Get Enough Sleep and Eat Well
Your brain works best when your body is healthy. Avoid late-night cramming. Sleep for 7–8 hours. Eat brain-boosting foods like nuts, eggs, fruits, and green veggies. Drink enough water too.
Avoid too much junk food or sugary drinks — they make you feel tired and lazy.
10. Stay Positive and Keep Going
Not every day will be perfect. Some topics may feel boring or tough. That’s normal. Don’t give up. Take breaks, ask for help, and remember that small steps every day lead to big results.
