Bilquis Edhi passes away at 74

Bilquis Edhi wife of late Abdul Satter Edhi (Angel of Mercy) passes away on Friday 15 April 2022 at the age of 74

Bilquis Edhi a professional nurse, head of the Edhi Foundation, and the wife of renowned humanitarian and philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi died on Friday after a brief hospitalization

Earlier Bilquis family said that her condition had stabilized. She was admitted to hospital for 3 days and was rushed there after her blood pressure had suddenly dropped. According to an Edhi Foundation spokesperson, Bilquis was ill for the last one month.

“Though she is not in a serious condition, she will remain in the hospital for a couple of more days,” the spokesperson of the Edhi Foundation Muhammad Bilal had said. 

Bilal had added that Bilquis had congestive heart failure and she has already undergone a heart bypass twice.

When Edhi foundation was formed Bilquis was working as a nurse there, Abdul Sattar Edhi who is not with us today proposed to Bilquis and they got married in April 1966.

Bilquis Edhi was born in 1947 in Bantvaserved and for spends more than six decades of her life serving humanity in need, her charity saved lives of more than 42,000 unwanted babies by placing cradles at the Edhi homes and centers across whole country.

She was honored with the title ‘Mother of Pakistan’

Bilquis Edhi’s son Faisal Edhi said that funeral prayers of his mother will be offered at the New Memon Masjid Kharadar in Karachi after Zuhr prayers on Saturday.

Faisal added that Bilquis Edhi’s burial will be carried out at the Mewa Shah Graveyard in Karachi Sindh Pakistan as per her wishes.

“My mother’s efforts are not hidden from anyone and we will be carrying forward our mother’s mission,” said Faisal

Many famous personalities including Prime Minister and President of Pakistan expressed sadness on the great loss of the country and sent condolences to her family and entire country as this is a the loss for whole country.
